Consider the team behind a shoot to be like the cast of a play, everyone does their part. The fashion stylist is an artist who tells a story based on the clothing and the accessories they have put together. They are the masterminds behind the wardrobe we see in magazines, print or television advertising campaigns, music videos, concert performances or any public appearances for models or celebrities. The stylist works closely with the art director on the shoot to interpret the look and direction set forth by the creative directors. Stylists in Dallas are in high demand because of the number of retail companies based here and the growing fashion industry.
Fashion stylists are tastemakers. They are on top of trends and are inspired by style icons. Before their work of assembling the clothing and accessories and after the creative call with the art director, the fashion stylist assembles a look board that encompasses the overall vision for the wardrobe which is presented to the art director for approval. Some of the elements considered by the fashion stylist include texture, the color pallet and the importance of accessories to go with the look. Accessories would be any jewelry, hats, scarves, flowers, etc. brought in to accentuate the clothing.
