Double Play

Arthur Miller’s 1950 adaptation of the Henrik Ibsen play, An Enemy of the People, is out as a brand-new Penguin Classics paperback with photography by Fredrik Brodén. The cover image—done with Brodén’s arresting, metaphorical magic—reflects both the Norwegian playwright’s original cautionary tale of a whistle-blowing doctor who discovers that pollution is poisoning the waters of a local spa and Miller’s McCarthy-era message of one man against the system.
