Beth Goodman is a military wife and commercial surrogate, which means she is paid to carry a baby for someone else. Beth Perkins photographed the 30-year-old mother of two for an October Glamour magazine investigation into why a disproportionate number of military wives have chosen surrogacy.

Financial concerns are often part of the decision for both military wives and infertile couples but Goodman also professes a desire to help others: “If I can give my kidney to someone who needs it, why not give a baby to someone who can’t have one?”
