They Call It Kindie Rock

What ever happened to the 80’s alt-rock band They Might Be Giants? Apparently they are still going strong, but with a new and arguably more demanding audience: children. As parents of toddlers, the Grammy award-winning TMBG—still led by John Flansburgh and John Linnell—have recently released their third album of music for kids and they are not alone.

Other once-ironic indie bands are crafting tunes for youngsters (and their own kids) and the movement even has a name: Kindie Rock. The trend is celebrated in a recent story at with images by Beth Perkins who spent a day shooting for the online version of TIME magazine, snapping images and rocking out family music-style.
